2014 Kenny Award To Be Presented to Mr. John Wilson

Given to a person who has significantly contributed to the development of the Arts in Kent County, the KENNY award for 2014 will be presented to Mr. John Wilson, musician and teacher extraordinaire. The award ceremony will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 7:00 pm at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 237 N. College Avenue, Chestertown.

Mr. Wilson, a resident of Coleman’s, has been involved with music and teaching most of his life, and has been particularly influential in the education of a whole generation of singers and musicians who share their talents with us today.

American Spiritual EnsembleThis year’s presentation will be held in conjunction with an event at Washington College on February 10 and 11The American Spiritual Ensemble, a group of professional singers performing traditional Negro spirituals will perform at Decker Theatre, Washington College, Wednesday, February 11 at 7:30 pm.  The day before, on February 10, members of ASE will hold a master class/workshop at Bethel A.M.E. Church at 5:00 pm for Washington College students and also members of the Kent County community who might like to participate.

The KENNY, a sculpted work of art by Marilee Schumann, has been presented since 2006, and is a project of the Kent County Arts Council and the Hedgelawn Foundation.  The public is invited to this free presentation at 7:00 pm.   To reserve a place in the 5:00 pm master class/workshop, contact Leslie Prince Raimond at 410-708-0798 or kentcountyartscouncil@verizon.net.
