The Kent County Arts Council is proud to be an sponsor of Legacy Day 2015 in Chestertown, MD on Saturday, August 15 starting at 5pm.

Join us at the Charles Sumner Post (G.A.R.) on Friday evening, August 14, 5:00 to 8:00 for a Pre-Legacy Day Event to reminisce about the music and social life of Kent County in the 1950’s through 1970’s.  We will be spinning records of James Brown, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and many more of the musical stars of the era. Refreshments will be provided.

The Saturday, August 15 event features Dancing in the Street to Motown Sounds: Celebrating our Community Bands & Local Beer Garden

A parade of classic cars, drill teams, bands, and floats down High Street in the early evening. The celebration continues with live music and dancing in the street to the tunes of the Larry Tucker Band and then DJ Stansbury! Trophies for the best floats & entries in the parade and for the winners of the DANCE CONTEST! Don’t forget to stop by the Bordley Center for a historical exhibit of “old school” community bands & beer gardens.
